Congratulations to Atsede Baysa for winning the Boston Marathon!! Finishing in 2 hours and 29 minutes right ahead of Tirfi Tsegaye, Atsede took the first place medal home. Bayasa is known to be a long distance runner who specializes in road running events. Not only did she win the Boston Marathon but she also won the Chicago Marathon, Paris Marathon, as well as the Xiamen International Marathon and Istanbul Marathon. Traveling across the world, this champion pours her heart out into running. Her personal best timing for a full marathon was 2 hours and 22 minutes in Chicago.
During the last few miles of the Boston Marathon, there was a dramatic surge. Bayasa turned on her wheels in the last 2 miles of the race when she was trailing behind Tirfi Tsegaye. With the courage and determination Bayasa had, she led to the finish line and won first place. She received $150,000 for winning the 120th annual Boston Marathon. I hope she continues to grow more in her running career and be a role model to others who have a passion for running. Coming from behind in the Boston Marathon, Bayasa was determined to finish her race. As a young 29 year old, she has a lot of potential to grow in her running career. Watch out world for the next Atsede Baysa will win!!!
