Winners and Losers from the NFL Draft

2016NFLDraftlogoWith the NFL draft coming to an end this weekend, the teams are set with their new rookies, but which teams “won” the draft and which “lost”? After initial grading, it seems as if the Jaguars and the Rams have two of the best freshman classes. With the newly created LA Rams trading what seemed to be endless picks in return for the first overall pick in the draft. With minimal surprise, the Rams took Jared Goff, QB from California. As a projected top QB, the Rams hope to capitalize on their first pick this season and give Goff the start. On the other hand, the Jaguars, who also drafted an excellent class, took Jalen Ramsey with their first pick. Jalen, a corner back from Florida State, fits perfectly into their defensive scheme, adding not only speed but also has the ability to play safety if needed. They also were able to draft Myles Jack, ILB from UCLA who adds some speed and athleticism to the defensive team. While the Rams and the Jags drafted well, the Falcons were not so lucky. With their first pick they drafted Keanu Neal from Florida, and while he adds speed to their defense, it was a very questionable first pick. The Falcons hoped to capitalize on their opportunities in the draft, but were truly unable. Overall the draft was a major success for some teams, while other teams got the short end of the stick. We will see how all these picks play out for the teams and will keep you updated as new reports flow in.
