Chicago White Sox Prevail against Texas Rangers in Extra Innings

On April 23, 2016 the Texas rangers (10-8) played against the Chicago White Sox (12-6) at the White Sox home field in Chicago. The slumping Jose Abreu of the White Sox made progress and provided the winning walk off hit in the form of an RBI single in the bottom of the eleventh inning leading to a 4-3 White Sox win. Before stepping up to the plate and delivering the game-winning hit, Abreu had gotten two hits in his previous 35 at bats. Texas starting pitcher Colby Lewis gave up only one run and six hits in his six innings of work. The white sox were then able to manufacture two runs against the rangers relievers. The rangers fought back to tie the game at three in the top of the ninth inning, and held the tie for two innings before the White Sox prevailed in the eleventh inning. Rangers pitcher Derek Holland will face White Sox pitcher Mat Latos for the series finale on Sunday afternoon. The winner of the Sunday match will take the series victory and gain valuable early-season momentum heading into the upcoming week, which features marquee divisional matchups for both teams.
